Goals of Hope
Goals of Hope (GoH), formerly known as Hope After Rape (HAR), is a voluntary women founded NGO formed in 1994 as a result of concern about the increasing number of reports of child sexual abuse, rape, HIV/AIDS and other forms of gender- based violence (GBV). Since its inception, issues of child abuse, HIV/AIDS and GBV have been GoH’s major areas of program implementation.
Over years, the name “Goals of Hope” was a fit for our organization and its founding vision and mission. Nonetheless, by 2017 we had ventured into new programs and an expanded vision. Faced with surging competition, new and wider opportunities to partner and an industry overwhelmed in change, it later became evident that the organization was growing beyond the confines of its existing brand. In this regard, our Board and staff collaborated for nearly five years to ascertain a new name and identity that describes our organization as it is and as envisioned for posterity.
Our Purpose
We have the authentic desire to make humanity feel most hopeful, in pursuit of a clear goal of the future that is better than the present. We work with and empower targeted communities to believe that they have the ability to influence society and make that future vision a reality. We expose our targeted communities to the pathways they can take to reach their desired goals.
What We Do
We offer long-term developmental support in: Capacity building; health and nutrition; safety-peace and protection; Research and Advocacy; and livelihoods.
